Diaper Basket

My older sister Ashley is having her second daughter any day now! Over the past couple of months we have done some projects to put in the nursery. I mainly watch her, but I am there for support!
She used this basket with her first daughter to hold diapers. Her nursery is going to have turquoise accents so the bin needed a makeover.

She found this great turqoise wethered wood paper at Hobby Lobby.
She traced all of the sides (We had to piece some paper together on the longest side).

Add a little Mod Podge onto the Wood and stick the paper on. Wood Glue would also work great and cause less bubbling.

After the paper dried we added another layer of Mod Podge on top of the paper

Thats all!  You could also do the inside to make it look like a real wooden basket, but we got lazy and figured it would be covered up by lots of diapers!

What do you think?
Happy Friday.

Tiffany from Mrs. This and That and I threw a baby shower for our cute friend Carson that is hopefully having her baby TOMORROW!! I can't wait to meet her. Carson is the best mom to sweet little Nixon who Jagger just likes to push over when Nix tries to give him a hug.
The shower was a success!! Now all we need is baby girl to make her entrance ;)

Go read all about it and see the tutorials on Tiff's blog

Good luck Carson!! :)

Don't all of these treats look great? Do you have any food you cook every 4th of July?

Mint Table

You all know how much I love the color Mint! I am so excited for my first piece of mint furniture. I am getting ready to move and trying to find cheap furniture to put in my house.  My mom got this from a garage sell years ago for $6.  She never used it so I snatched it up.

I did a quick sanding job with my new electric sander.  I had no idea how much I needed to sand.  If anyone has any tips I would love to hear them! I then put a coat of Krylon primer on.  This beautiful mint color is Mint Gala by Valspar. I just used a regular old brush but I would have loved to try one of those machines that spray the paint like spray paint.  I am going to be hitting up my brother in law for the next project.

I sanded the edges again where I wanted to distress and added a Walnut stain I picked up from Walmart.

Just wipe of any of the stain you don't want with a rag. After everything was dry I sprayed a coat of polyurethane to protect my new table.

I bought a new know from Hobby Lobby and Waaaa Laaa here she is!

Definitely not professional but I am pleased with my first furniture makeover.

DIY workout shirt

everyone knows i loathe working out. I'm one of those girls who gets a gym pass in January as a resolution and by February it's cancelled due to lack of attendance ;)
anything that i can find that will motivate me to work out at all is definitely a plus!!
i found this super cute DIY tank top and knew i could do it.
it literally took me 20 minutes to do it.
go { here } to see how exactly how i did it.
and give her a shout out for making such a cute shirt!

In case you can't read the text here are the steps.

1. Start with a T-shirt.  Any old shirt will do! The bigger the better.
2. Cut away the ribbed neckline and bottom hem.  For the sleeves, cut downwards starting from the shoulder. Cut straight down and then begin to curve down below the armpit seam.
3. Determine how low you want your front neckline, and cut away.
4. Flip the shirt over and make a narrow racerback, curving inward from the armpits.  Then cut a deep "V" shape from the top neckline.
5. To give your tank a high-low look, lay your shirt sideways flattening it out evenly.  Starting a few inches up at the front of your shirt, start cutting diagonally until you reach the back.
6. Wrap the string all the way down around the center of the racerback, and back up to meet the other ends.  Knot the ends together tightly.  Trim the loose ends.
7. Ta- daaaa!!

I had my cute sister model it for me since taking pictures of myself is awkward.

so cute!!

Campus Book Rentals

Last Week Chelsie and I found out about a company called Campus Book Rentals.  I sure wish I had known about this company when I was in school.  Every semester my professor would put out a big list of MANDATORY books.  There was at least one book every semester that I never opened.  It was so frustrating that I spent hundreds of dollars buying books I never needed!

With Campus Book Rentals you can rent your books for way less than buying them.  If you are in college or have kids in college this place is worth checking out.

Some perks are:
- Save 40-90% off of bookstore prices
-free shipping both ways
-You can highlight in the text books
-flexible renting periods
- With every textbook rented they donate to Operation Smile!

They also buy books, so I will be trying to sell my unused books to them!

Clean Plates

Lately I have been on a search for cheap things to put in my new house.  I would love expensive items, but hey I am a single mom living on a nurses salary. I am so excited to finally be living on my own and so scared! There is so much to buy.  Can't someone throw me a NON bridal shower? Chelsie? Anyone?

I found these plates at the DI.  I love them.  My sister paid good money for brand new ones. These were on sale for 50 cents each.  Even though they were really scratched I knew I could fix them.  I saw a great tutorial here

I went to Home Depot and bought Bar Keepers Friend the liquid version and the powder version. I put a little on these plates and scrubbed away.

Before

After

They look like new plates! I am so happy with these results!
Has anybody else tried this?

Last Day of School

Every year Chelsie and I take our girls out to dinner on the first and last day of school.  The girls usually chose the Myan but it closed down this year.  The girls were bummed but they decided on their other favorite restaurant Sweet Tomatoes. We can't believe how big these little girls have gotten. Here are a couple of pictures of these beauties.

The girls on their first day of kindergarten. We had no idea we dressed them in pretty much the same outfit.

These pictures are from the first time we took the girls to Sweet Tomatoes.

It's so fun to take these pictures and look back at how they have grown!

After 2 hours of playing together we went back to Chelsie's house were the girls HAD to show us something.

They wrote on the white board "Can we have a play date please moms now".  Ha Ha gotta love these girls. We could take them to Lagoon all day and right when they get home they ask if they can have a play date.

Kids Fashion Faves: Boy Version

The day I found out I was having a baby boy one of the first thoughts was- what am i going to dress him in?? I know it sounds awful. BUT boy clothes are just SO much harder to find. I told myself that whenever I would find cute boy clothes I would buy them. I can find clothes for Kennedy within 5 seconds of starting to shop. Poor Jaggers closet is really half the size of his big sisters I swear ;) I had to post these really cute outfits I just got him that I have put together!! My husband really might kill me with the pink pants but I am in LOVE with them! If you ever have a place with cute boys clothes please let me know!

I am loving that he will actually wear sunglasses and hats for us now.
Here is my little man rocking his ray bans.
They're actually just from target and were only $6.99!
My sisters boyfriend has a pair so he thinks he looks just like Tytennn! {Tyson}
I'll post some of my faves for Kennedy next time!

DIY Tinted Jars

I finally gave in to the tinted jar craze and decided to make my own! This project took me 30 minutes and didn't cost me a thing.  I cleaned out my fridge and used the jars.  Any glass jar will work. You need a little Mod Podge and food coloring.  I used Wilton's Aqua-Teal.

I used 3 Tablespoons of hot water and added a baby spoon full of coloring, stirred until it was fully dissolved.  You can add as much coloring or as little as you want to get the color you want.

I added 1/2 cup of Mod Podge and stirred until dissolved. I tinted 5 jars and I had plenty of left over.

Poor some of the mixture into your jar and swirl it around so every part of the glass is covered. Once it's covered poor the excess Mod Podge back into the bowl.

Then place the bottles upside down on some paper towels for a couple of minutes. After they have drained  you can place them up right for a couple more minutes.

I placed them in the oven for 20 minutes at 180 degrees. If parts aren't dry or transparent keep them in a little longer.

I made this little collage for a quick reference.

Taada!  That's all there is too it.  Aren't they adorable?

PS you can see in the big jar that the bottom is not dry all the way.  You can leave it in the oven longer or let it air dry. I left mine to air dry and it looks fine.

I hope you like them!
