Getting Personal

Chelsie and I usually like to keep this blog light and fun.  But lately we haven't felt that way.  We've been throwing ourselves a little pity party.  This party has left no room for crafting or blogging.  Let's see I think Chelsie's car has been in the shop about 4 times in 2 months from different accidents.  She was in the grocery store the other day when her iPhone got stolen out of her shopping basket.  $400 later she finally has a new one. I went to an appointment with her for a lasik consult and she found out that she's not a candidate and won't be for at least 5 more years. 20/200 vision is just going to have to do! We were driving in the car talking and complaining, wondering when things were gonna turn around for us.  Right at that moment a rock flew into my windshield leaving a nice crack.  I have been going through a break up and my ex decided to call my mom and mention he is in love with someone else.  It hasn't been our favorite week.

Believe it or not this post is not intended to keep our pity party going.  After some time venting we acknowledged how great our lives really are.  We are both healthy, our families are healthy, we have so many people that love us, and we have exciting things going on in our lives, we are both fortunate enough to be building our own homes (more on that later).

I don't usually use this blog to talk about my personal life, but I am so glad that I have friends that talk about their challenges on their blog.  Breakups, divorces, infidelity, or a rough path can be really challenging.  Knowing that there are others going through the same thing can make life a little easier. So check out these amazing women.

Jacy

Jacy talks about how she got through a divorce filled with infidelity.  She doesn't have a sad blog, she has an empowering blog about regaining her self confidence and learning to love again.

Chantel

Chantel  was married for 6 weeks when her husband sent her a text saying he married her by accident.  She is a strong woman who recently graduated grad school and has her own business. You can also read her story on Jacy's blog here

Brooke

And then there is Brooke. She is a dear friend of ours. She has been through more than her fair share of heart ache.  But she is an amazing single mom of two who owns her own photography business (She did Chelsie's wedding and her family pics). You can see her photography here.

All of these women have had challenges in their lives and those challenges have made them strong independent women.  I highly suggest checking out all of their blogs!

For all of you who follow me on Pinterest you know I am on a kick of pinning quotes!  So here are few of my favorite at the moment.

Chicken Wire Frame

I wanted to make a cute and inexpensive frame to hold baby bows.  So I came up with this idea for my niece's nursery.  I went to the DI and found this plastic frame.

I painted it Mint Gala by Valspar.  Since this frame is plastic it was so easy to distress.  I used a little bit of sandpaper and sanded away.

I stapled chicken wire to the back of the frame.  I got my chicken wire at The Wood Connection, but you can buy it at any hardware store.

I used one of my glitter clothes pins and clipped on a maternity picture of my sister, clipped on the flowers and that's it!

This is a perfect inexpensive gift for a baby shower  I hope you like it.  We love all of your pins, and if you read our blog we would love if you would follow along!

Nursery

Yesterday my sister finally had her baby.  Her first daughter was born exactly on her due date at 9:16 AM.  Her second daughter came exactly on her due date at 9:19 AM. She keeps those babies cooking for 40 weeks exactly!

Here is a peak at her cute nursery.

Starting to paint

Paint color is Chocolate Froth by Behr

My brother in law made the crib (which also converts into a full size bed), and the changing table.

My sister's mother in law made the adorable bedding.

There is the Mint Armoire

Here is a sneak peak of the beautiful little girl.  I am so excited to be an aunt again!

Enjoy!

New room

You've seen some of the cute items going into my sisters nursery, but here is a look at their oldest daughter's room. Cameron got kicked out of her old room to make room for the baby, but her new room is adorable.  In Cameron's old room she has similar paneling made by some pieces of wood, crown molding and a shelf. My sweet brother in law did this in my daughters room and I love it!  It adds so much to the room.

But my sister wanted to try something different.  So her and her hubby picked up some wood paneling from the hardware store.  In the picture below you can see panels are pretty wide.  They added crown molding a shelf, and painted it white.

Her new room!

The paint color in this room is Sandstone Cliff by Behr

DIY Bird Picture

My older sister is having her second daughter any day now! Over the past couple of months we have been doing little projects to put in the nursery.  Well I mainly watch her and take some pictures while she makes them.
She found this cute idea of a DIY momma and baby bird on Pinterest.  Unfortunately when I tried to find the link for the original idea, it was no where to be found. If anyone knows the original source let me know! My sis thought it would be perfect for her nursery.  So we headed to Hobby lobby got some textured poster paper (I believe it was meant for watercolor paints),  bird stencil, and scrapbook paper.  She simply traced the birds in the blue scrapbook paper, then made wings with the colored paper. After she glued them on the poster paper she traced around the birds with a black sharpie and put it in a frame. So simple!

Enjoy!

Armoire

A couple of years ago my very talented brother in law made this Armoire to use as their entertainment center in their family room.  Recently they decided to mount thier TV on the wall and use this armoire for their future baby girl!

Like me, my sister is a big fan of anything Mint and Turqoise so of course the new nursery needed a splash of color. So her sweet and talented hubby redid it, and it looks amazing! They used Serendipity by Behr and then had it made into a laquer so he could spray it on for a smooth finish. He did a little distressing and here it is!

I can't wait to meet the sweet girl that this is for!

Our weekend in pictures

Christy and I went out on Saturday.
Every girl going through a break up needs a best friend night ;)
and I of course love my Christy nights!

When we went through our- go out all the time phase- I would always get ready at her house.
Her poor mom thinks we're so weird.
I walked in her house and told her sweet mom that I needed to go shower
she just looked at me, shook her head and goes- 'hmmm ok?'
Ha!
We've known each other for so long and have been so close the stuff we do and say doesn't even surprise them anymore. Half of her family thinks we're lesbians/sister wives.

I have never been to Gracies before and Christy has been trying to get me to go forever
we decided that would be the perfect place. All Winter and Spring long we look forward to
eating and having a drink in a Summer dress and on a patio.
Gracies was perfect!!
The weather was amazing and so gorgeous.

Here are some pictures of us being us. My brothers cute girlfriend was our photographer for the night

and this is me with stupid length bangs.
DON'T ever cut bangs.
Right after I cut them I was told they have clip in bangs.
That would have been enough change for me!
It's taken so dang long to try and grow them out, I finally have been able to middle part my hair again.
They look like sideburns.
Awesome.

Maxi.

I try to be serious. I can't believe she got a shot without me busting up laughing.
It's not my thang.

And us driving in the car on the way to trax.
Have we told you before how interesting the people on trax are?
Gotta love public transportation!!

First we met a guy that walked on singing.
Us being the friendly people we are decided to start a conversation.
It went something like this-

Us: 'Hi! Do you ride Trax a lot? Do you know what stop to get off of for Gracies?'
Him: 'Girls say when I smile stars come out'
Bahhh!  He smiled and had uber rotten teeth and one tooth completely black.

Next 2 other guys walked on.
One looked like Fabio and the other had that Jazz announcer deep voice.
We got the conversation started and come to find out they were in a band
and will be sending us an email about a very personal break up song that
one of them promised to get to us by today.
I need to go set that fake email account up asap- we could have some hit song coming our way ;)

After the creepers we had the sweetest boy sit next to us. We asked him to take our picture and
his parents laughed and said for us to be careful because he would end up having a crush on us and not leave us alone.
At the end of the night, we rode trax back to our stop and walked to our car. We found this lovely on our windshield

We both laughed so hard- it totally made our night.

I hope everyone had a good weekend!!
Here's to an amazing Monday
{ If there is such a thing }

Love
Chelsie and Christy
