Valentine's Topiary

Happy Wednesday.  Today I am sharing this cute Topiary that my sister made. She picked up this foam topiary base, 1 yard of red felt, and pins from hobby lobby.

1. Cut A LOT of 3 inch circles.

2. Fold the circle in half

                                                            3. Fold the circle in half again.

Place a pin on the folded bottom half of the circle. Stick the pin into the foam wherever you like.  Keep repeating until the foam is completely covered with the felt flowers.  The topiary fit perfectly into a bowl my sister had.  She put some green moss on top for a finishing touch.

Super easy and a great decoration for Valentine's Day
Enjoy!

Valentine's Sugar Cookies

My family loves to make these sugar cookies for almost every holiday.  It is the BEST recipe and they are so fun to decorate.  They are so easy even our kids can make beautiful cookies.  You can find the recipe for the cookies and icing HERE.

Step 1.  Use a pastry bag and icing tip to outline the cookie.  I like to use a size 4 tip.

Step 2. "Water down" the icing and use a bottle with a long tip to fill in the rest of the cookie.

We will usually outline the cookies for our little ones and let them fill in the cookies.

These cookies are so easy, and time consuming, but totally worth it.

I'm pregnant!! We found out about a month ago- and couldn't be more excited! :) I've been sicker than a dog and even managed to lose weight. So I guess I can't complain ;) Good thing babies are worth everything you go through pregnant. I'm due on 8.10.13 so I'm in for a loooong hot summer!

8 weeks! gah. I've got such a long journey ahead!!

When I was pregnant with Jagger, Christy came with me for a photo shoot that I had scheduled for Kennedy. My poor photographer. Haha!

Cake Shoppe Birthday Party

For Hailey's 8th birthday I decided to throw her a Bake Shoppe Birthday Party.  I saw a similar party HERE and I fell in love with the idea. Tiffany from Mrs This & That Designs made the adorable invitations. I made an Anthropologie inspired backdrop from card stock, tissue paper and pages from old books. Ann from Crowshaw Cakes made the Ombre Rosette cake.

I thought about making the personal cakes and I decided that was too much work for me.  Thankfully the grocery store just down the street was able to make the perfect cake for the girls. For the cake stands I went to the dollar store and bought candle stick holders and plates.  I spray painted them light pink and glued them together with E-6000 glue.

Each girl had their own chef hat and apron.  I had fancy plans to add ruffles to the aprons but between Christmas and Hailey's birthday on Christmas Eve I ran out of time. So fabric markers had to do.  The girls loved this part.  I am so glad we did this.  While they were decorating the girls listened to all of their favorite Taylor Swift songs.

For the cake decorating the girls used various types of sprinkles and sugar pearls. I put different colors of frosting in icing bags and let the girls have fun!

Here are the girls with their finished products.

For the cake toppers I used two paper straws and made a pendant banner with their names.

I love my 4 year old niece's cake!

The girls took home their decorated cakes, cake stand, chef hat and aprons.

Love, Christy
